ever wondered what sits inside those fantastic bags that (almost) all gals carry?
and how much does it weigh, on average?
read on...
was flipping through a magazine out of pure boredom when i stumbled upon an article that talked about gals' bags. not backpacks, not haversacks. handbags.
handbags of all types, of all material, of all brands.
and, surprisingly, the average bag weighs
2.8 kg!
how much is that?
1) it weighs roughly the same as a laptop
2) it is the weight of the "wives" many SG guys have. their trusty rifles... the M16s (i still used M16 during my time), when unloaded, weigh around that range. except that the whole thing's weight is distributed throughout, is not exactly my wife, and is totally redundant.
was wondering what are the magical things that go into these wonderful, mysterious items holder. so i decided to think of a list (by no means exhaustive!) of the possible stuff inside there.
some things, first, though:
1) there is no such thing as an unimportant or unnecessary item in the gal's bag. everything is crucial.
EVERYTHING!
- comparing to my own green bag (my field pack) which has everything that is unimportant and unnecessary. perhaps the toiletries and accessories packs are
marginally important... but why would i open them to use them when i have the stuff i need unpacked, in better condition and in better quality.
2) the 2.8 kg may or not include the weight of the bag inside. yes, the bag as it is, without anything inside. well, not really... maybe just lots and lots and lots of pockets to store stuff.
- my goal is to go to school without a bag or folder. and the pockets i have are on my pants. no where else.
3) the stuff listed below may or not be present when you check a gal's bag (if you are "bestowed" the "privilege") but you can be sure that at some time, it was / is going to be present.
4) the fact that there is a list does not mean that i am sorting them according to priority. remember,
EVERYTHING IS IMPORTANT! frankly, i should not even number them because all the items are in position 1.
- for the sake of readability i will number them.
(taking a long deep breath) here goes!
1) make-up kit #1: contains foundation and mirror. for touching up before that hot date.
2) make-up kit #2: contains brushes, lip gloss, mascara and eye-related cosmetics. for livelier eyes and etc. seduction power!
3) handphone: for sms-es, calls, and endless photo-taking.
4) keys: house keys, car keys, keys to a gal's drawers and lockers containing secrets.
5) wallet: cards, cash, coins, receipts and photos.
6) camera: photo-taking anytime, anywhere. made easy with this fantastic gadget.
7) water bottle: hot weather is never a problem with a bottle of hydrogen-hydrogen-oxygen.
8) jacket: keeps out the freeze!
9) book: or reading material, in general. probably has books from the sweet valley series, but now upgraded to novels like PS I love you or shopping-related books. romance stories keep gals's morale up in finding prince charming, while shopping-related novels satisfy a desire to shop but lack the necessary (financial) resources to do so. magazines like her world and vogue keep the gals in touch with the latest fashion, sales, and insights (hah!) into men.
10) tissue #1: the
real type. cleans up a mess, wipes the restaurant table and toilet seat clean. wiping mouths after a meal works well too... no wiping of sweat because gals don't really sweat.
11) tissue #2: the
special type. keeps the irritaing but always-happening thing away. many variants from heavy to light (not in weight! absorbing power!)
12) mp3 player: something to keep the long train and bus rides bearable. is the first thing to ditch when possessing own car, or have a bf who is driving.
13) perfume: never too good to smell bad.
14) medicine: to keep cramps and dizzy spells away. panadols are like the most miraculous thing on earth!
15) shades: the SG sun is merciless, better to keep eyes protected and at the same time, look way more cooler, classy and glamourous.
16) plasters: for days with high heels on. this comes under medicine by definition though.
17) accessories: what's a gal without her bling-blings?
18) extra pair of shoes: never a good idea to walk around in those 3 or 6-inches. by carrying the high heels prior to the hot date, wear a pair of flat-heeled shoes first. then, switch to power shoes and voila! more elegant!
19) umbrella: why waste money on sunscreen or sunblock where this wonderful thing keeps out the sun and acts as a good weapon against bad guys? the money can be better spent on the next dress! or shoes! or make-up! or hairdo! or manicure / pedicure! or... of course, the
next bag!
simply amazing!
and i'm sure i have not listed out everything...
i sure need some training... so that i can carry that all-unimportant field pack of mine which weighs much more than 2.8kg and never for any practical purpose except to tire me and make me wish i was somewhere else.
shall add more items if i can think of them.
friends are welcome to add any ideas!
