welcome everybody to my 轟趴

yes... welcome everybody to my 轟趴.

this 轟趴 thing is a youtube video series i have been following these past few weeks. its part of a show called 全民大闷锅, which mainly aims to attack Taiwanese political figures in a humorous way. they have people act as these key persons and then engage in silly debates that are nonsensical in nature and leaves the audience laughing, satirical stuff.

of cos, this being a taiwanese variety show where they speak hokkien 95% of the time, it is not shown in singapore free-to-air channels. instead, i stumbled upon this series and has been laughing every night since.

for my loyal follower(s), i have, if u notice, not been writing my blog for quite some time. this is very much due to my working hours: long and tiring, which leaves me only enough energy to take the train home and sleep (maybe play some games or watch tv) before i crash into my bed.

basically, i'm not going to be talking about watever 趴 here: 蓝,懒... no no no. its more of an update for fellow readers on what has been happening to me lately. if you want to say the 2 words followed by 趴, you must say: " *pass* 给你讲” (say in hokkien… a famous line in the series)

an interesting issue i was chatting with 2 of my colleagues today at work was the topic of children. not whether children are cute, or if they are worth having, etc. the focus is about the problems and difficulties faced by parents and me, being a future parent, was listening to what they hv to say.

being aunties in their mid years, they do have something to share about. frankly, i forgot wat we talked about today, except that they were asking me and my allowance. its not a sensitive topic - i told them how much i got per day, and how me and my mum resolved financial issues. the viewpoints of 2 mothers (mine, and one of the aunties) was distinctly at two extremes.

she was in fact very liberal with money. what was enlightening today was tat parents are more willing to spend on daughters than on sons…. so it’s mum for facials, mum for new hairdo, new pair of heels to go with the gorgeous gown and nice bag for the upcoming prom nite.. with the former, they shower with gifts and money that is used for their personal enjoyment: shopping, grooming and the like. The latter… not as much. WHICH IS OK with me really. i mean, why compare.. i'm not a girl.

however, for boys, it is expected that they be independent and raise money on their own. sure, this is to prepare them for future obligations to wife and family (note: wife before family): the associated expenses. i suppose society still burdens the man with expense issues despite the *seemingly* growing feminism bull and gender equality shit. of cos, this is a general statement and hopefully does not apply to you. (your future husband is just working as hard, so dun treat him like a mobile ATM for your LVee and Pradar and Gucce!)

which boils down to the crucial statement: it is CHEAPER to raise a boy than a girl, and parents give more moeny to daughters than sons. why? the former spends on herself, and the latter on girls. so the idea is: if you have to spend ANYWAY, why not spend it on yourself and not on others.

perhaps this is just the thinking of the previous generation. however, cues were abound: it gave me some idea and tips as to how to raise my children later in life. actually, i wasn't too receptive to the idea of marriage: however, after some time, i decided marriage without kids is not so bad after all. then, 2 weeks back, my friend told me something which goes like this:

the desire of humans to attain immortality is present in every single person: this, being unrealistic, is a prompt for people to get married and have kids. through their offspring, they see in them their own selves - thus, you are "immortal" through your children.

now i'm contemplating that maybe getting married AND having kids isn't so bad after all. and so i have decided... perhaps 2 kids, preferably at least 1 daughter so i can shower my love on her (perhaps plus some money to complete the package too).

hmm.. back to my workplace. it hasn't changed much (no new girls that is. still the same... girls more loyal to the company and less wanting to job-hop i guess??) but the clean and tidy files cabinet i left is now in a total disaster. drastically in need of new files and some proper order! (the files have been reused so many times its time to change them!)

coming to almost 2 weeks at my workplace: very nice and very cool people. i'm personally the social animal around: chit chatting mostly to maintain good relationships with both managers and employees. good right? anyway, i found some girls have become prettier whilst some... (psst... shhh... hush) will be working till the end of this month and then rest for 2 weeks (1+1 extended no school first week self proclaim) with some workout and major slacking before returning to books again. damn!

that should be all... wait. let me save this in word cos my connection got cut and it doesnt seem to be coming back anytime soon till i restart. so ciao, ppl. long entry to read, but juicy nonetheless.
