foie gras overload!

hmmm u might wonder why i like this?

actually today is the celebration for my grandpa's bday, which was held at pine court, meritus mandarin. for the uninitiated its at orchard road, but who doesn't know? we suppose to have chicken rice at chatterbox but it was changed to pine court where we had ala carte (actually set meal is closer... S$78+++ per head! u will c why), fusion style. so it's chinese cuisine, fine dining style. small portions, elegant decors and nice ambience.

hey, ppl, i study marketing alright? so all this while having their appeal doesn't appeal to me cos i'm supposed to be immune (duh!) as i know all the stuff marketers have up their sleeve! u noe wat, the other day i met my orientation group at hall 2 canteen and when asked abt my specialization, it was said that its where u study to cheat ppl!

come on, there's a nice word for it (as is for everything else - we're trained to PACKAGE and BEAUTIFY) - its calledd creating an EXPERIENCE. as usual, the same stuff wat?! however, today, i'm not the star. my grandpa is. so it doesn't matter if i'm not fully enjoying (i am actually, but u noe - its a 职业病 lar) i can see he's really enjoying it.

so let's take a look at the menu...

appetizer (wrong spelling but heck care): peking roast duck served with the dough skin (sthg like tt)

main course:
shark's fin soup in 老黄瓜-style cup. excellent.
foie gras (had 2 1/2 pieces)*
roasted pork ribs (changed from lamb chop)
sphagetti longevity noodles (WTF?!)
abalone. one piece each person. waaahhh.
+ 1 more which i forgot?
+ harbin beer. smooth, not so gassy, always a good touch to any meal.
+ cake (of cos)
+ green tea cake with mango pudding

you see why its 78 bucks? oh yah prior to cutting cake 3 filipinos came in to sing a birthday song and "the moon represent my heart" both in chinese leh! kudos to this pros. singing's in their blood.

ugh so full now lar! it was a very nice meal. anyway, i juz wrote this blog after this gg to study again. wat the shit!

*i'm not sure but some of u reading this may feel that foie gras is a product of human cruelty. fuck that ok? anyway, i'm not some animal activist altho i like cats (hate dogs, hate their bloody barking). i mean, the poor animal's already dead and its up on the table. so the same reasoning goes - if the shark is already killed, lets get the fire going and the abalone, dried scallops, chicken stock, mushrooms all in.

so in this case, the thing's dead. let's eat to live and live to eat. bon appetit.
